Hello WoW players! This is a survey intended and targeted ONLY at WoW players. If you do not subscribe or have an active WoW account on Blizzard's servers, in order to protect the data from this survey please do not answer the survey.

I make a note the poll at the top is for players of ALL games to answer. (I believe in inclusion!)

Greetings! I am conducting a short survey to assist me in a finance worksheet I am doing to examine the amount gamers spend on game time cards. This is only intended to be targeted at all WoW players. Even if you don't use time cards, please answer!

Thanks!

1. Do you have an active Battle.net WoW account? If so, how many?

2. What server do you play on, and what level are you?

3. Do you ever purchase WoW 30 or 60 day game time cards to supplement your subscription? (If so, which?)

4. How much do you pay for your game time cards? (In your currency)

5. What is the frequency of purchase? (one at a time, two at a time / regularly, occasionally?)

6. Where do you buy your game time cards? (Online shop or brick and mortar retailer?)

7. If you were to buy time cards online, on a scale of 1-10 please post how comfortable you are with each of the following, and include comments as to why if you can.

PayPal
Google Checkout
Moneybookers
ClickAndBuy
Per-website self security certificate (standard debit/credit processing)

8. If you had the opportunity to pay some money to try and get a game time card cheaper, but had the option to immediately then make up the difference and get it for regular retail price if you didn't get it cheaper, would you buy from that website/retailer?

9. Why do you buy time cards instead of pay a revolving subscription through the game publisher?

Thanks for any responses. I appreciate your help!

1. Do you have an active Battle.net WoW account? If so, how many?
One account smile.gif

2. What server do you play on, and what level are you?
I had two level 80's about a year ago, but my friend got my accounts banned. I started over, and I had a 67 on Khaz Modan as of ~1 month ago.

3. Do you purchase WoW 30 or 60 day game time cards to supplement your subscription? (If so, which?)
I accidentally hit no on the survey... I buy 60 day cards. I didn't even know they made them in 30day flavor...

4. How much do you pay for your game time cards? (In your currency)
My employee discount at Best Buy gets me cards for ~$23 biggrin.gif

5. What is the frequency of purchase? (one at a time, two at a time?)
One card at a time, as they run out.

6. Where do you buy your game time cards? (Online shop or brick and mortar retailer?)
As noted above, Best Buy.

7. If you were to buy online, on a scale of 1-10 please post how comfortable you are with each of the following, and include comments as to why if you can.
I'm completely (10) comfortable with PayPal, Google Checkout, and paying with a card through Battle.net; the former are reputable sources from which I have data privacy, and the former... is the game company itself. I'm not familiar with the two other options, nor would I be with any random website; I suppose that makes it a (1) until I would find about the legitimacy of the site.

8. If you had the opportunity to pay some money to try and get a game time card cheaper, but had the option to immediately then make up the difference and get it for regular retail price if you didn't get it cheaper, would you buy from that website/retailer?
This somewhat goes along with the idea above. I'd be interested in this option, as it seems like a slick deal. But it comes down to having some sort of assurance (or close to assurance) that the website is fully legitimate. If they allow indirect payment options like PayPal, that would lighten the risk tremendously (that's why I was all right with buying from one of those CD-key digital game sale websites).

9. Why do you buy time cards instead of pay a revolving subscription through the game publisher?
Before I worked for Best Buy and had the discount, that's what I did. It basically comes down to the price.

Good luck with your research!
why does it have to be current players? I used to play shouldnt that be valid research also since we made the choice to how we payed too? I dont like the cards cause i would of had to pay more per month instead of $12.99 a month with a debt card.

In order to avoid diluting the survey responses with dated data, I am only requesting the full survey be filled out by active subscribers. As markets change and prices change, this analysis is trying to take a very (very) small snapshot of the current state of affairs with WoW game time cards.

Sorry frown.gif But I appreciate what you have to say!

No, I don't buy time cards. Your survey is targeted specifically to those, without mentioning online month-to-month billing, quarterly or every 6 months.

1. Do you have an active Battle.net WoW account? If so, how many?
I have 2 accounts I pay for. Mine and my fiances.

2. What server do you play on, and what level are you?
We play on the Greymane server. I have 2 level 85 haracters(Death Knight and Druid) as well as a level 82 Shaman. My fiance has 4 level 85 characters, Priest, Shaman, Paladin, and something else. We are all Alliance.

3. Do you ever purchase WoW 30 or 60 day game time cards to supplement your subscription? (If so, which?)
Normally, I have it set up for subscrition. Occasionally I get the digital "30 day card" from the Battle.net store.

4. How much do you pay for your game time cards? (In your currency)
$14.99 for each "digital card" or $14.99 a month subsccrition.

5. What is the frequency of purchase? (one at a time, two at a time / regularly, occasionally?)
when not subscribed I get 2 of the "cards" a month.

6. Where do you buy your game time cards? (Online shop or brick and mortar retailer?)
As stated above, at the Battle.net online store.

7. If you were to buy time cards online, on a scale of 1-10 please post how comfortable you are with each of the following, and include comments as to why if you can.

PayPal - 10
Google Checkout - never used before - 8
Moneybookers - never heard of - 1
ClickAndBuy never heard of - 1
Per-website self security certificate (standard debit/credit processing) - if this refers to the actual Battle.net website - 10

8. If you had the opportunity to pay some money to try and get a game time card cheaper, but had the option to immediately then make up the difference and get it for regular retail price if you didn't get it cheaper, would you buy from that website/retailer?
Sounds like some "Slicky Dicky" stuff here and I am not sure I completely understand where you are going with this question.

9. Why do you buy time cards instead of pay a revolving subscription through the game publisher?
Just depends on my budget from one moth to the next. I may have to post pone a subscription payment to pay for something else.

1. Do you have an active Battle.net WoW account? If so, how many?
Yes, I have 2 active and several others that are inactive.

2. What server do you play on, and what level are you?
Mal'Ganis Horde - 2 Lvl.85's and 6 Lvl.80's
Dalaran Alliance - 2 Lvl.80's
Alexstrasza Alliance - 1 Lvl.60
Many other characters between 1-85 on misc. servers. I hit the 50 character limit on my account.

3. Do you ever purchase WoW 30 or 60 day game time cards to supplement your subscription? (If so, which?)
Yes, I buy 60 day cards.

4. How much do you pay for your game time cards? (In your currency)
$29.99 USD

5. What is the frequency of purchase? (one at a time, two at a time / regularly, occasionally?)
One at a time regularly.

6. Where do you buy your game time cards? (Online shop or brick and mortar retailer?)
GameStop, BestBuy, or WalMart.

7. If you were to buy time cards online, on a scale of 1-10 please post how comfortable you are with each of the following, and include comments as to why if you can.
PayPal: 10 - PayPal has been around a long time and they are very reputable. Even if you are a victim of fraud PayPal resolves it very easily.
Google Checkout: 5 - I have used this occasionally for other online purchases, but I have not looked into how safe and reliable of a service that it is. This would probably be my second choice if I couldn't use PayPal.
Moneybookers: n/a - Haven't heard of it.
ClickAndBuy: n/a - Haven't heard of it.
Per-website self security certificate (standard debit/credit processing): 2 - Even if it is certified I can't really tell where my information is going and if it will be safe, so I would proabably stay away from these kind of payment options.

8. If you had the opportunity to pay some money to try and get a game time card cheaper, but had the option to immediately then make up the difference and get it for regular retail price if you didn't get it cheaper, would you buy from that website/retailer?
I don't really understand this question from how it is worded... can you elaborate on what you are asking?

9. Why do you buy time cards instead of pay a revolving subscription through the game publisher?
I don't have regular balances in my PayPal account and once I transfer money to my PayPal account from my bank account I can then only access that money via PayPal, so I just find it easier to get the money out of the bank and buy it locally.
