Random Freezing & Crashes

Thread Starter
Hello everybody.

OK So I just downgraded back to AMD from Intel and am having a few problems.

Lately I have been freezing up. When I freeze there's a very loud and painful screeching being transmitted through my headphones and requires me to restart my PC to fix. Sometimes my PC just restarts for the hell of it.

I thought at first this was because I didn't reformat after switching, but I just did today and am still having this issue. Also today my connection started to just randomly start dropping. I thought it was because of the Realtek LAN drivers. But am not sure.

I cannot replicate the problem. My temperatures are fine on everything. The NB, RAM, CPU, GPU, PSU, HDD and SB. Also my VRMs are not getting hot.

Here's my CPU, Mobo & RAM
AMD Phenom II X2 555 Black Edition
Foxconn A88GM Deluxe
G.Skill F3-10666CL8D-4GBHK

I will be running Memtest later and HD Tune is showing no errors.

Anyone have any suggestions or can help me diagnose the problem?

And I'm not running an OC

Reset all your settings in the BIOS, and get a CPU-Z validation if you can so we can see the clocks/voltage.

Also, why would you consider it a downgrade

I get such through my headphones as well when there's a freeze (i.e. mid-stability test), don't really know why it does that. The main point is... it's all unstable. Freezing and random restarts like this hints at unstable RAM

I went from a Xeon X3440 Quad Core with 8 threads OC'd to 4.1ghz and 8gb of RAM with a Maximus III GENE to this. It's more of a downgrade than side grade

Runs fine when it isn't crashing though. Better than I expected.

I gotcha with the 'downgrade' now, lol..

Anyway, I'm pretty sure 1.225v is a bit low.. I was thinking more the 1.325-1.3v range for that chip, could be wrong though.

Alright I ran Memtest for several hours this morning and it came up with no errors.

Haven't had a freeze/crash after hours of testing. However my LAN keeps turning off now.

Have to unplug it and plug it back in to fix it. Decided I'm gonna just RMA my board and get a refund. If it continues then I know it's something else.

So I uninstalled and reinstalled the network drivers to one that is more up to date and am continuing to get this problem.

Does anyone know what could be causing this? It's a fresh install of W7. On the good side of things, I'm no longer getting freezing/crashing.
