Problem with 2560x1600 resolution (HD 6950)

Thread Starter
Trying to fix a problem for a friend.

He has had cards before and they had the same problem with this monitor and he assumed it was just his past card and bought a HD 6950. he wants to hook up a 2560x1600 30" and a 1280x1024 19".

There has been several problems though. Whenever the card is enabled to 2560x1600 resolution, the monitor artifacts. In CCC the monitor is listed twice in the drop down boxes and you cant get a picture at all on the 19". The 30" model number is HP LP3065. The cable for the 30" is a DVI-D dual link, and it is in the Dual-Link DVI port. If you enable the second HP LP3065, CCC shuts down and says this GPU isnt recognized, and you have to forcibly turn off that "monitor" in display properties.

Computer is currently using XP. Bios isnt flashed to 6970 yet.

I have a 6950 hooked up to my Dell U3011 via Displayport and to a Dell 2407 with Dual link DVI. I don't have any problems running the monitors at their native resolutions of 2560x1600 and 1920x1200.

Maybe uninstall and reinstall the drivers? I am using Windows 7 so I don't know if usign XP would be a factor?
