Custom Fan Profiles for gtx 460

Thread Starter
Hey guys, this is my first post. (Yes I have searched and didn't really find what I was looking for) I'm wondering whether those of you that have GTX 460's could post your custom fan profiles in Afterburner and what temps you are getting. I'm trying to refine the cooling of my 2 Gigabyte gtx 460's and it would really be helpful to see what others are running.

Thanks in advance.

My cards run @ 40% when idle. To be honest I don't really need them to run cooler as I have never seen the top card hit more than 75°C but having some headroom would be great. Thanks.

Well my single Asus directcu Top 460 runs anywhere between 17c-25c which i know is like really cold. But you have a rather normal idle temp for sli'd 460's. i have my fan on 40% idle. then kicks in at 60% 30c and above then 35c+ 100% because thats usually when im playing games. So i'd just suggest that you have it on rather low while the cards are idle then when you start playing games make them kick in @ 100% like mine does.

Ah yeah my cards idle temperature is from 27-30°C The fan runs at 40% when idle. I don't really want the fan to ever run at 100% because they can be quite loud. Maybe I'll just leave the fan @ auto for now until I overclock the GPUs further.

The cards are currently at 800/1600/2000. When I need the performance I plan on taking them to 850 but there is no need at the moment, all games run perfectly.

800 should run perfectly, but these baby's do 900 my friend. i say go for that as your next OC, only if the temps are reasonable!

Well seeing as I need 1 volt to get them to 825 I doubt 900 will be in reach for these cards. But 850 should be easy.

Balls out of course!

On the low side for ever % OC' past stock I go 2-3% more on fan, on the high side of temps 1% OC to 5% fan bump if not more. You can never go wrong with more fan powwwa!

Thats just a generalization, and will be heavily affected by your cable management and air flow in the case, as the temps peak it is very easy to temp saturate the stock HS, which could lead to some thermal runaway and instability. The goal is too keep the card from ever hitting that magic number, whatever it is, in your setup.
