Interesting, those pics show the XFX not being totally modular. I understand the two MB cables being made in , but looks like theres more already made in on the XFX.
Well I'd say either of them will clearly work. I think the only difference between the two is the cable setup.

Corsair has already attached: 24 pin, CPU 8 Pin, and probably 2 x PCI-E 6 + 2 cables.

XFX has already attached: 24 pin, CPU 8 pin and probably 4 x PCI-E 6 + 2 cables.

I'm not 100% on the XFX's cable so someone correct me if I'm wrong. Judging by the cables though I might be right.

Anyway if I am right then they've got the exact same number of connections so go with the XFX since it's a lot cheaper. Plus if you're always going to be using two cards you'll need those 4 x 6 + 2 PCI-E cables already attached to the PSU.

And now I'm off to get a haircut. I'll check back in later to see what you decided

why is it the corsair 1000w has a 5 yr warranty and the 850 corsair shows a 7 year? Or is this misinformation?

Thinking I have it down to

or
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817139007
or
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817207001

Leaning more towards the Corsairs, but need to be SURE the 850 will be plenty of headroom for future upgrades/expansions

the hx 1000 fell short in many ways

either one of the hx or xfx are good but do you want fully modular?
this is the cheapest fully modular

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817256058

the updated corsair's ax series

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817139015

nzxt another good performer

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817116012

for 1kw this is better then the hx1000

The Corsair 1000HX isn't a bad PSU, but it's not great either. In hindsight I would have picked a different one because of the way it was designed. Having two seperate 500w units has its uses, but its somewhat annoying having to balance the computers components between the two.

Well using http://extreme.outervision.com/PSUEngine It shows a rating of 835watts, do you guys and gals think if I went with a good 850Watt PSU that I would power my system with plenty of headroom for future expansion? I wont be going more than two GPU's but like if I wanted more drives, fans.. whatever... just want to make sure I dont tax it.

See first post for all components.

However what I want to know is what one to go with,

this http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817139011

or

this http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817139015

I like the idea of the first one having 5 egg reviews from so many people, but the second one has only 4 eggs... .... both show several DOA units. Kinda scary !

HDD's, fans, lights, DVD drives, etc use next to NO power compared to CPU's/GPU so you'll never really have to worry about that.

If you are not going to use more than two high end cards in any future system a quality 850w PSU will more than suffice.

Between the two you've listed I would go with the HX850 over the AX850. The HX has a 1% variance in voltage regulation on the 12V rail usually while the AX has about 2%.

The early AX units got a lot of bad press for DOA's when the new line first came out. They've since corrected many of the problems.

Oh and I finally found what I was looking for. Here's the local PSU guru's two cents on the HX vs AX question:
