Help OC'ing 2600k

Thread Starter
So i have my new SB system together and i can get to 4.8ghz stable but i am unable to get to 5ghz, i've upped the voltage to as high as 1.540 and still get a bsod 10-30 minutes into Prime95.

Anyone have any ideas on tweaks in the BIOS i could try, the only BIOS settings i have messed with are the multiplier and the voltage. The system is Liquid cooled.

Have you looked at an overclocking guide for your motherboard? Also, you could be reaching the limits of what your particular processor is capable of.

Agreed not all SB chips will hit 5ghz even with good cooling. Also id be weary going over 1.4v too as the cpu will degrade alot quicker. Just out of interest what sort of temps are you getting up to the point of crash? does it level out or is it climbing gradually?

the cpu is getting up to 80c before crashing, i eventually had to give up at 1.55v, i knocked it back down to 1.410v and 4.7ghz which is the last stable speed i had.
