Hey why don't you just make an image back up with Windows?

Install all the drivers and updates - make image (save to external hard drive). When your OS goes bad just reimage it.

OP do you know about GHOST or Acronis?

My advice:
1. Get an Acronis Boot CD.

2. Partition your Hard drive into TWO partitions with the second partition for your system image,(you can do this inside windows7) you will need to make the partition only large enough to fit a fresh install of windows/drives/programs/updates needed *Make a perfect installation and get everything set to your liking 100%.

3. Use Acronis to image your OS partition to the second partition you just made.

4. When you need to re-install it should take you roughly 11 minutes to reload from the image and it will be right back to your optimal state.

OR

Windows 7 has an option to create a backup/ for moving to another drive.. I haven't played with it yet but you could look into that.

OR

Just make a second partition for DATA and keep your drivers and program installation files on that partition.

OR

Buy a USB flash drive/ portable HDD and keep you needed drivers/files/programs there..

Windows 7 has an awesome image utility. It works great and I've used it a bunch of times without any issue. Its very easy to use. Only problem I had was when I tried to use an image back up on a smaller hard drive. It would not work since the partition was larger then the drive itself. But for the same drive or larger its great.

So if you are doing this with multiple computers, why is only one getting reformated so often?

Because this 1 likes Linux/Ubuntu better than any version of Windows. (best stability on Vista Ultimate x86 but limits me to 3.5GB RAM)

Also, I am currently on XP Pro Sp3 :/ 32bit...... -_-

I dare say this has been done already

In fact, I have it on my USB stick. Installs drivers for any PC / laptop running Windows.
Its ~3 GB, it consists of a graphical installer + driver packs, it searches all the hardware IDs or whatever and matches them with an index of drivers in the driver packs, and then lets you choose to install them all or whatever. In the few cases where a required driver isn't in the driver pack, it gives you a link to a site where you can lookup the hardware ID for a driver (or you just go to the manufacturer's site)

The installer is called Driverpack Solution: http://drp.su
The driver packs (which are the same ones that come with Driverpack solution but there are more updated drivers here) can be found at: http://driverpacks.net

Basically you download the types of drivers you want from driverpacks.net (eg. chipset, mass storage, whatever) and then put them in the /drp folder.
