Old TX650w or New TX650w

Thread Starter
Hey all, I have the choice between using an old Corsair TX650w from 2008 or a brand new one bought last week.

Now I was going to use the brand new one, as it just makes sense, but after reading this article by Phaedrus2129:

http://www.overclock.net/power-suppl...sair-psus.html

It seems that the new Corsair TX650w is a different design to the old one that performs slightly better, but may have a higher failure (not much of an issue to me, it has a 5 year warranty )

I'm still leaning towards using the newer one if it performs better but which one would you guys use if you had the choice? It'll be used to power my sig rig.

Thanks!

Is the newer one a TX650V2? If not, there's no major difference, but you might as well get the newer one anyway. If it is the V2 however, there's no discussion, get the V2.

Nah its not the V2 So just use the newer one?

Will it actually power my sig rig okay?

Heh I think you misunderstood, I've got a TX650W from 2008 and I have another one that I got for free recently.

I dont have anything against modular PSU's. Im running a TX 850(non modular). Though i am thinking about getting modular only because its less of a hassle hiding the cables you dont need.
