Tethering on Virgin mobile

Thread Starter
Okay so last night I finally tried tethering with my Optimus v from Virgin mobile, it worked GREAT actually it's the same speeds I get from my home net(more stable though) My question is about this throttling I keep hearing about I Googled some and heard that January 14th VM announced they were going to start throttling their broadband to go customers that were on the unlimited plan.

My question is would that include me I don't plan to torrent on my phones connection or download anything other than apps and usual stuff from the net.

Anyways Just curious as to what it would do exactly to my connection because my current home net causes MAJOR lag on css which is awful when I'm in the middle of a scrim the phone so far has had NONE 10ms higher ping that's it.

Please don't respond if you're against tethering your phone DO NOT want a flamewar going on.

According to an article I read they throttle you after 5GB a month.

I am wondering the same thing. I learned I could activate the wifi hotspot by getting quick settings app. It's part of android 2.2 OS, and hidden by VM, so they must not be OK with tethering, yet I have not found anything in their fine print other than they will throttle back broadband2go at 5 GB. I have a beyond talk plan with my optimus V, used 6GB in the last week, my month is up on the first, and no throttle back yet. It is the same old spotty service though. using now to post. I tried PDAnet and easy tether apps, but they did not work well. i am guessing if they do anything, they will throttle back to 256kbps or lower as it states in the fine print for BB2G.
