Of course they're still worth buying. They're tied with the 570 as the 2nd fastest cards in nVidia's lineup atm (and technically faster clock for clock). If you can get one for the price of a 560, I wouldn't think twice.

The "heat" issue is over-exaggerated imo.

Yup its all about the raw graphics horse power.

Got myself a GTX 480 Hydro Copper for $355 from ebay and an MSI GTX 480 for $200. So overall I spent ~$555 for GTX 480 SLI. Dont think Il be regretting my decision for a loog time

So the lesson is, either buy a used GTX 480 for a killer deal or buy a brand new GTX 570.

the MSI lighting has the AXP cooler doesn't it???

if so they are great...

i have 2x480s with those coolers....

they actually run cooler then a 570 or a 580...

Edit:

soz they don't have the AXP cooler...

but they do have aftermarket cooling...

I'm shocked to see my old Zotac AMP! 480 is still selling on Newegg for $519. I gave it to my brother after I upgraded to 580s, and now that he upgraded his GPU I have it back, and about to sell it. I wonder if I can get $350 for it on Craigslist.

I am just as surprised as you are. That's the price they were selling for when I got my 480 Calibre's for $470 in September. The new 580 Calibre's are $580, while Galaxy sells the same thing for $500. Sometimes CPU/GPU prices don't make a lick of sense.

Thanks for the replies guys. Just a quick question. i've read that the 480 needs a huge power supply. I have a corsair 750 HX. Would this be adequate to run it along with an OCd i5 2500K?

And@faisal11iraq There's an auction where someone's listed the msi gtx 480 at 1200 Dhs. Am thinking of bargaining and getting it for around 1100. That would be a good deal right?

if 1100dhs yeah good deal and 750w is enough for a gtx480.
