Now i was all set to buy the 560 AMP! edition from Zotac but while checking out an auction buying site here I came across an auction for the MSI 480 Lightning which a guy was selling for the same price as the 560 AMP!

I know the 4xx series give off crazy heat but would it still be a good offer? The 480 still has around 1.5 years of warranty left and the guy has a good rep on the site.

Oh Choices! Been splitting my head for two days now. Please help me out guys

P.S. I have an i5 2500K setup and I game at 1920x1200.
just for the curosity can u tell how much DHS the 480 nd 580 will cost in UAE...my bro lives in Abu Dhabi

thanx

I'm happy with my ASUS GTX 480. I got it from someone here on OCN used, for a good price. It is quieter and cooler than I thought it would be. The previous owner installed the EVGA high flow bracket and backplate which seems to help with heat dissipation a bit.

Well, UAE retailers overprice cards here, while maintaining a facade of reasonable prices.

The 580 generally retails for around 2000 Dhs which works out to 541 USD while the Amp! edition is priced at 2400 AED which works out to 650 USD..

As a reference point, the 560 sells for around 950-1250 Dhs, the MSI 6950 Twin Frozr for 1350 AED and the 6970 for 1400, while the 570s sell around the 1550-1700 Dhs mark.

And the 480 on auction is marked for 1200 Dhs

The 480 lighting is the best 480 around so heat and noise are gone as an issue, only power but since you have a high quality PSU you're golden. Skip the 560, it will phase away as fast a the GTx460 did.
