Hi everybody,

I'm still searching the internet for software to overclock my amd athlon 64 x2 dual core processor 3800+ 2.00ghz. Is it possible to overclock it with software? My pc is made by dell so no overclocking in bios.

Even if you could find software to overclock, the settings wouldn't be permanent, and therefore useless since you'd have to set them every time you booted.

Makes you think twice before buying OEM, doesn't it? tongue.gif

Ahh... **** there isn't a software for permanently overclocking ?

Even if you can find software (SetFSB *cough* *cough*) the limitations imposed by the quality of your Dell board probably won't let you OC far at all. Don't bother, it's not worth it.

Getting a brand new PC with today's hardware will easily have more power than what you have now. And you'll most likely be able to overclock the hardware if you're willing to take the time to squeeze every last drop of performance out of the hardware.

A new machine shouldn't be too much for a budget Athlon II X2/X4 if you want to go with AMD.

You could swap motherboards, but the time you do that you might as well just buy an AM3 one and get on with it. Although, I would wait for AM3+ before doing a platform upgrade as you'll get a bit more longevity in your purchase.

IIRC my 3800+ only got up to 2.5 or so (although was 939 variant)
Software overclocking is lackluster at best, you don't really have much to gain by trying.

He has an Athlon 3800+ DELL now, he can't be looking for that much power that Bulldozer will deliver lol..
