r u serious.....
i have played crysis maxed with my oced 9600gt at 1024x768 res.....
and i get 50 fps with my gtx 460 at 1280x1024....
i think the op does not need gtx570/580/6950/6870...
even a gtx 460 will do for that res(even a 768 mb version).....yessir.gif
consider the fact that crysis 2 is more optimized than crysis 1....

EDIT: and i dont agree with kingt that op needs such high end cards for such low res..
i know the cpu limits the video card at that res but op's cpu is not that weak......

So here it is,Warhead benchmark:

Enthusiast,

Vsync ON,

DX9, (DX10 runs like crap)

1280 x 1024 ,

16Q AA

And I get 61FPS avg with OC'd GTX480 @ 850/1025MHz which is even faster than stock GTX580 (scores about 200Pts more in Graphic score in 3DMark 11)..

Also check out the GPU usage so there's no obvious bottleneck..

CHEERS..

The gtx480 is the best card of 2010 definitely. 1 destroys games but I found such good deals on Craigslist that I couldn't resist two. When the GTX480 is Slied its crazy. You get 90-100% improvements. The drivers are solid and there is never any stutter/microstutter etc. Just smooth perfect gameplay.

as it is 2010, we are on 2011, 480 is EOL and is only good because its cheap nowadays, as gtx 560,570,580 outperforms in temps, noise. not to say a gtx 570 is the same as a 480, maybe in games you get +1-5 fps more than the 480. IMO any 400 series user should stay as he is, only worth upgrading to the 600 series or even 700-800. a 400 series user wont see much performance upgrading to a 500 series as it is just a "remake". any from a 400 series to a 500 series card will easily max out crysis 2 because of the engine

Some of you haven't really read his system configuration or my two previous posts.

He is running Windows 7 32-bit version. We don't even have to enter the "it's too good a card for that resolution" to see that a GTX580 or GTX480 has 1,5GB of GGDR5 and that it will eat through his system RAM mapping.

IF he bought a GTX580 or a cheap GTX480 he would only have, in the best case scenario, 2.5GB of system RAM left for Windows to play with! And that would very likely affect his performance in games.

Unless he changes his OS to the 64-bit version first, getting something better than a GTX560 ti or a HD6950 1GB is pure nonsense!

Some people here even mentioned the forthcoming GTX590 (3GB) or HD6990 (most likely with 4GB) LOLOLOLOL

EDIT: It seems he already updated to the 64-bit version from yesterday after I told him it would be best. Having the Ultimate version has that advantage.

This would still only be 1.5gb/2gb per GPU, the GPU's memory is mirrored so they have the same pool to work with.

1. with little tweaks the Q8400 will get 3.5-3.6, do it! your motherboard seems capable. Just lock the ram speed to 800, and set the ram voltage to 2.10.
2. get an msi 570 imo

I didn't know it was mirrored. Either way, it's still a lot, Imagine he would get the HD6950/70 with 2GB. He would only have 2GB of RAM left. That would seriously hinder his performance. I tested Crysis Warhead on my MEdia Center with only 2GB of ram and then 4GB and the performance increase was noticeable. Basically the difference between stuttering and smooth gameplay.

Anyway, he already updated his system to the 64-bit version today, so this point no longer matters. But a GTX580 or 570 would still likely be toom much for his system.

He still has the same system ram subsystem, his ram is still DDR2 800, and his CPU still only has 2x2MB of cache. And he would have to buy another PSU to handle one of those GPU's. And you really don't get to admire the beauty of a game unless you have a monitor to match (both in size/resolution/quality). That would be wasting money, in my opinion.

Much better to buy a GTX560 ti 1 GB for now and then wait a few months and assemble a brand new Sandy Bridge or Bulldozer.

1. Why are you saying to set the ram voltage to 2.1v ? I have my Q9550 overclocked to 3.2 Ghz, with a 1600FSB (8x400) and the ram voltage is at stock 1.8v, just fine.

If you're not overclocking the ram, why such a high voltage ? Did you tighten the timings ?

EDIT: His ram already works at 2.1v, so, if he's running it at the latencies as intended, he should already have them at 2.1v .

EDIT: And so does yours. So, no modification there. I didn't quite understand why you said it then. That's the voltage the factory tells you to run it anyway, has nothing to do with overclocking the CPU.

2. He doesn't have the PSU to handle that card, he'd have to buy one first. And while he's at it, he would better buy a new monitor to fully take advantage and be able to admire the game.
