Treble

Thread Starter
I'm noticing my "voice" range is somewhat lacking. Would increasing the treble help? So far it has, but at the same time, I'm looking for realism playback. Would increasing the treble, in this case, allow more realistic sound or?

What exactly does increasing or lowering the treble do?

Voice range is midrange. Treble is usual;y the cymbals or the 'spark' in vocals.

Increasing treble(or highs) won't help. What setup do you have?

Voice is midrange yes. I sense a v-shaped frequency response headphone to blame here.

The set up is the desktop audio set up in the sig. I was watching this video:

and the voices just seem lacking. Increasing the treble did make gun sounds in my games seem more mechanical to them.

The set up goes as Auzentech Forte (DTS encoder) -> Pioneer 520 -> TM6750 Polk Surrounds.

Anyways, any ideas on how to fix? Or is the video just like that?

Some EQ settings may have a vocal booster. Another way you could do it is by altering your sound card EQ settings manually and spend some time fooling around increasing the mid range settings. It all depends on your soundcard settings though.

I don't know much about the sound quality Polk surround speakers(the small ones) so I don't know if it's the speakers problem. Since you have a receiver, there's movie options(i.e. dialogue boost) to increase the vocal/dialogue loudness.

I am guessing it is just a bad mix. The vocals indeed could be a bit louder and clearer.

Are you lacking the midrange in everything, or was it just in this video?

I tested a few other videos, such as an unboxing by linus and the vocals were great. Thanks for taking a look at the video.

I do find the extra treble to be nice actually. It really helps in pushing the polk tweeters. Gun sounds are just amazing on COH. 8D
