is it just me or have we been going faster than Moore's law in the last 5 years?
IB is already being made, now this 14nm stuff... This is getting faster and faster between FAB's... 18 monthes... more like 12

All I know is, this is a cool ERA to be alive in! cant wait to see the next 50 years.

Moore claimed that the number of transistors on a die would double every two years. Did he ever claim anything about the reduction of transistor size per unit time?

IBM's research lab recently released a report that Graphene won't be able to replace CMOS. It can be used for other transistor applications though.

And I'm pretty sure you can't scale CMOS down to 4nm considering how molecules such as SiO2 are 5nm in diameter. The short-channel effects at 4nm would be overpowering too.

How do you pack more devices in a certain area? By shrinking the devices. Each minimum feature node is ~.7 times the last one which lets you follow Moore's law.

I'm not disputing the fact that transistor sizes have decreased over time since companies need to keep power consumption and chip size to a minimum. What I'm asking is whether or not you're trying to state that Moore claimed a certain size reduction in a given period of time.
