I gotta ask you guys, is Tech moving too fast now?

In 5 years will Core i7-2600k CPUs be like 1/8th of the performance of the future?

Or is everyone just trying to go green?

Too slow definitely too slow.
Pentium at 60/120 in 1993/94 and Pentium 4/6 core at ~3000 in 2011/12. Nothing really happened in 20 (!!) years. Not to mention same motherboards, graphic cards, mouse controller, same interface, ... etc etc. This is going nowhere!!!

It's gotta be rough when your competition spends the same amount of money on a new Fab process vs what your company's total worth is.

I'm running a 130nm P4... Hmmmm...
Hey, 14nm is only 9,(285714) times less! I'm guessing my rig will remain pretty modern for at least another decade~

Fixed it for you.

I still think GWB was a brainless monkey. However, budget deficit under GWB < 2% of GDP. Budget deficit under Obama? >10% of GDP. He claimed he would cut the National Debt by 50%... by the time he's done he'll likely double or triple it.

Back to topic... It's great Intel is opening another fab here. Thank you Intel.

Bush average: 2.7% (including the 8.3% for FY 2009 when President Bush left office in January);

Obama average (projected for two terms spanning nine fiscal years): 6.35%

Claiming GWB Deficit of <2% is only true if you ignore the fact that his financial decisions resulted in his last year reaching a deficit over 8% GDP.

In any event, keep politics out of tech forums, and you can make statistics tell you any thing you want to hear.
