I'm currently running my 5970 that I had prior to the start of doing any of JRs programming. When the program is running it typically utilizes 98% of both cores, and it typically spins the fan up to about 70% which is noticable, but not unbearable, and that keeps temps around 51c, the program can be configured to run on idle for 20 min, or as a background.
As far as gaming goes I would reccomend stopping the worker thread(s) before launching any games
And on that wall of text this is a good way to make your gfx investment more financially viable.
