If that doesn't work then off to Lowe's and every electronic store I can find to see what kind of tubing Kentucky has to offer.

Sorry about the order!

Any good store that sells electrical wiring supplies should sell heatshrink in a variety of diameters. Try Lowe's, Homedepot, Radioshack.

If only Fry's Electronics became a national chain. They sold the good rubbery type of shrink in 10 foot lengths. (there's a shiny more plastic type that isn't as forgiving or neat when it shrinks)

The only downfall is I doubt they have all the color options, but red, white and blue are fairly common.

Hey Ooler...

Couple of questions on the case you got. I read though all the reviews on the egg, and the one thing that cought my eye was some people need extentions on their psu cords since it's such a big case. Does this seem like it could be an issue? Or should it be ok? I have this Antec Neo Eco psu and am hoping it should reach the 2 8pin connectors on the top of my asrock.

1 more thing... is there enough room at the bottom of the case for when I install my psu for the fan? My psu has a downward facing fan, and I don't want it to burn up due to clearance issues. There appears to be a mesh bottom under the spot where the psu goes. Just want to make sure!! biggrin.gif

There is a ton of room under the PSU. It sits on risers and has the full mesh bottom with dust-filters. As you can tell in my back shot of the cable management photos the 8-pin reached to the connector. The only thing I will need to know is the length of your 8-pin so I can measure how long mine is. If not I picked up a 3 pack of 4/8/24 extensions for 9 bucks on the egg... its what I am using for sleeving. Buy the pack.... if its not needed rip it apart and sleeve it... if it is needed then you already have it. And if you need me to sleeve it we can work something out.... just wait until I finish mine to get the idea of what they will look like.

Stopped by Lowe's after dinner and picked up 10' of 1/4" heatshrink. I decided to go ahead and use up the colored heat shrink I got from frozenCPU. I cut 1 inch lengths, 2 per each wire. I am going to put them under neath the sleeving and other heatshrink and leave about 1/4" showing. I believe that will give the stuff from Lowe's something more to grab onto other then the wire itself. I am trying to decide which length to use for the black stuff from Lowe's. I believe it's time for some YouTube videos to see what lengths other people have used. Pictures to come once I make my decision and start working.

SLEEVING HAS BEGUN!!!!!!

Here is that heatshrink that I couldn't return... kind worked out.... the other stuff sticks to it fine

sany0168.jpg

Here is the stuff I picked up from Lowe's

sany0169.jpg

I picked up 5 packs of the stuff...2 foot per pack so a total of 10 feet..... if I have left over I might return it or keep for other projects.

So I first cut the colored tubing to 1 inch pieces. I cut just enough to put two on each wire.

sany0173.jpg

Here is my first white wire finished. That one took forever to get looking good.... wasted a couple .5" pieces of the black tubing.

sany0174r.jpg

And here is the 8-pin extension FINISHED!!!!

Here are some pics of the 6-pin that I finished tonight.

First up the inner heatshrink gets pushed right up to the metal pin

sany0177u.jpg

Then I heat up the part right next to the metal pin to make sure it doesn't move anywhere.

sany0179n.jpg

sany0183.jpg

sany0185e.jpg

Then repeat for the other end

sany0187.jpg

After getting that tubing in place I put one of the wires back into the plastic connectors. I then bent the wire a little and used my trusty Sharpie to mark where I want the black tubing to come to. Seems like I bought the hair dryer for nothing. My light works a lot faster and doesn't wake up the kids. Oh well it will serve a purpose when they get older.

Here is the 6-pin wires finished with the sleeving and heat shrink tubing.

sany0188.jpg

Now it's time to put them back into the connector.

sany0189j.jpg

to make my life easier and not have to worry about where the wires are going I connected those things to each other.

sany0191j.jpg

Then I started in the upper corner of one of them and inserted the wire. I gave it a little tug to make sure it wasn't going to slip out. Then I looped the cord around and plugged it into the other side to make a connection, I then disconnected the connectors and put the rest of the wires into it.... alternating white and blue....

sany0193.jpg

Now that is my 6-pin and 8-pin finished.

sany0194b.jpg

Tomorrow night I will work on the 24-pin....it's late and I am tired and I think I burnt my thumb a little. Oh well the price I must pay to have an awesome computer. So until then, mod it to hell and then showcase it!

Now before I do the 24-pin, are there any requests for pics of certain parts of the process?

I also wanted to show the toolbox I cleaned out and am now keeping my computer stuff in. I will be using the black SATA cables I have in there to hide the yellow pieces of junk I currently have.

sany0195l.jpg

sany0196.jpg

Now here is something that every computer guy needs!

A jar full of case and fan screws!

sany0197.jpg

There are also safety pins, jumpers, and mobo standoffs in there.... when someone is throwing out a case and I see it I scavenge all the screws I can find.
