[NEW UPGRADE QUESTION] Corsair Heaven (56K warning!) - Page 10

Thread Starter
Well I brought in my cables today to work to get ahead a little bit. I got the 6-pin and the 24-pin both taken apart with only 1 pin destroyed! Thats great news because I don't think I will need that one pin...will check the Pin out on my PSU, but if I need it I can fix it....

I'm in the process of sleeving right now and I've run into a problem!!!! I accidently did my math wrong and ordered the 1/8" heatshrink. I cannot get it to fit over the paracord! I am going to have to contact FrozenCPU and see what the return policy is on uncut heatshrink, unless you guys know a way to make it fit.

Well Mark from FrozenCPU emailed and let me know that I cannot return the heatshrink. Guess I'll take that as a loss and head over to Lowe's to see if they have any 1/4" heatshrink tubing. I don't feel like paying 17 bucks to have some more shipped out to me. I'll drive around town before I order more.

I think I am going to try something.... Since I cannot return the tubing I am going to cut one about an inch long and put a slit in it about a 1/2" in. Then slide it over the tubing and heat it up and see what happens. If it looks decent I can do it for everything and put the slit on the inside of the connector so it will not be seen. If that doesn't work then off to Lowe's and every electronic store I can find to see what kind of tubing Kentucky has to offer.

Here is some of the work I did last night

Notice the tape I put over the end of the wire to prevent snagging. It worked perfectly and I did not snag the sleeving at all! Here are the 4 yellow wires of the 8-pin done. I will stagger them through the connector so it is white blue white blue all the way around.

Sorry for these pics of the blue ones, but with the lighting in my dining room the color came out as black without the flash.

I singed the ends of the sleeving so it would not unravel until I get the heatshrink in. Then I will either cut off the singed area or pull it so tight that it becomes smaller.

8-Pin connector done!

I didn't take any pics of the 6-pin because I forgot But here are the white ones for the 24-pin.

And the white and blue for 24-pin

And Finally all of the wires being used for the moment. I still have a TON of the paracord left. If I get a wild hair I may go ahead and sleeve my entire PSU, but I want to get this thing near finished pretty soon so my wife can have me back.

Remember earlier when I said that I destroyed one wire? Well here it is. I was able to bend the wire clamp out so I could re-crimp it. but the crimp that held the actual copper wire was beyond repair. What to do?

I know! Let's dig through the closet and find my solder gun!

Whew! There problem adverted. Man I love knowing how to solder stuff.

More to come when I figure out my heatshrink situation

Cool. I hope the more cases I sell for them the better my chances are becoming a rep.

I'm glad you enjoy the build. I should be "finished" within the next week. I have a friend at work that is a great photographer. I may enlist his services and get some professional pics of the computer after I am done. No matter what I do I can't get good lighting in my apartment

I have the same problem in my apartment. All I have is my crappy cellphone camera so its really difficult especially with the lighting.

One of my neighbors is a pro photographer, I asked her how much she would charge to take pictures of my computer and she was like, "um... a computer? yea I guess we can try it out, Ill do it free since Ive never done that before!"
