A few questions regarding my 9650

Hey OCN,

I have a few questions regarding my processor, it's been a while, and I can't quite remember what was supposed to be what.

Problem 1:
My Core2 and Core3 temperatures are ~10C higher than my Core0 and Core1, it seems fairly normal that there's the variation, but 10 degrees? Should I be thinking about re-seating my cooler?

Problem 2:
Down-clocking, CoreTemp shows my cores running at 1999.XXMhz, I'm assuming this is a BIOS option to conserve power and be green and all that good stuff, I'll go check it after I make this post, I figured I might as well ask while I'm asking the other question though, in case that isn't it.

Thanks all

[EDIT] Included a screencap of CoreTemp.

1. 10C is slightly high, try reseating your heatsink/reapplying thermal paste.
2. Turn off C1E (or speedstep) in the bios.

My thoughts exactly, just the amount of reinforcement I needed to bust out the drivers, paste, isopropyl and q-tips yessir.gif

Sure thing mate, unfortunately, it's an odd resolution, but it doesn't look bad stretched to 1920x1080. I definitely liked it enough to stretch it and deal with it anyways. tongue.gif

10c is a bit high, but is still normal. My cores usually stay within 5-9c of one another. You can try to reseat the cooler and see if that helps, but it's nothing to worry about. Also, the temp differences you mentioned, if they are load temps it is normal. If they are idle temps then definitely reseat the cooler. If it's a flat base cooler just you a small blob the size of a popcorn kernel and let the pressure of the cooler spread it. I wouldn't advise spreading the Tim before applying the cooler
