Phenom II X3 720 unlock and temp monitor

Thread Starter
I just unlocked the 4th core on this and the CPUID Hardware Monitor is not showing the temps for any of the cores. Is that expected? I'd like to oc at least a little bit on stock cooling, but not without being able to see the temps.

ACC screws with your temp sensors. Don't OC, unheatsinked 4+1 phase VRM not good for 125W processors. Stock cooler + stock cooling is where you should be at and no further, unless you can stick some mosfet heatsinks on there (in which case they'd be fine, they're fairly quality bound VRMs)

When the fourth core is unlocked it borks the temp sensor, so no core readings. However, you should still be able to read "CPU temp".

As xD said, don't OC anything until you upgrade your cooler.

Thanks, I've seen your warnings! So would something like this on the mosfets be what you are talking about: Enzotech MOS-C1

Oh, goodie, something to upgrade

I've actually got an Artic Cooling Freezer 64 Pro sitting here, but it's way large for the matx case I have. Gonna try to sell on craigslist and move up that way.

I don't see "CPU temp" -- is it the TMPINx readings?

My x3 740 BE unlocked to a x4 40 BE, and I never looked back since.

As for the temps, HardWareMonitor (HWMonitor) gives the CPU socket temps.

One time, it listed 7C as the core temps, every other time, it lists 0C. I don't know what that 7C was about, it was at much lower voltages that I'm not afraid to use now.

The highest socket temps I had were around 61C, and so I shut down prime95, so what was the core temp, 66C ???

That was pushing it.

For the most part, I pretend the core is 5C over the socket, to be safe.
