HWMonitor and Hard Disk Sleep

Thread Starter
I use HWMonitor, HWMonTray, and HWMonitor Meter to keep track of my hdd, ssd, gpu, and cpu's temperature (and whatever I can fit on the gadget). I noticed that it wont let my hard drives go to sleep. Every 9 seconds or so, my hard drives click/seek to get a temperature reading. There is an option in HWMonitor Pro for "wake-up hard disk" but nothing to let them go to sleep. Ive emailed the people at CPUID with no response. Has anyone else notice this problem? Has anyone fixed it? Thank you.

Why would you want to have them sleep?

Stop monitoring the temps of the secondary drives?
Temperatures really arent that important on HDD's.

They actually perform better in a warm environment.

Thats what Im doing now. On my laptop, I plug my secondary hdd after HWMonitor is running. HWM wont pick it up and will allow my hdd to sleep. I cant do this with my desktop, but I cant hear my hard drive anyway.

Try Power options?
Mine are also set to sleep but I don't know if they work since it instantly access opposed to my external seagate taking a few seconds to wake up.

Windows 7 Power Options? I set it to put inactive hdds to sleep after 5min. Since Hwmonitor is accessing it every 9 seconds, it would not matter.
