PCI Network Adapter (Wifi)

Thread Starter
Hey guys, my GF needs a PCI adapter because she is getting constant drops on a USB Wifi stick I gave her. I've been reading around the internet that PCI > USB (Patriot PCBOWAU2-G)

http://www.patriotmem.com/products/detailp.jsp?prodline=6&catid=69&prodgroupid=163&id=909&type=20

Router is in the basement and she currently gets 1-2 bars of signal with constant drops. She has a laptop that has no issues and no connection drops in her room. The router is a non-DDWRT/Tomato'ed WRT54G.

Anyways, I've been looking around and I found these two PCI devices:

http://ncix.com/products/?sku=39206&vpn=TEW-643PI&manufacture=TRENDnet

or

http://ncix.com/products/?sku=21731&vpn=DWA-552&manufacture=D-Link&promoid=1270

Which would you get? Should I try USB again or forget it? She is running Windows Ultimate x64

Any input would be appreciated.

For range look into the Alfa 500w or Alfa 1000w usb adapters. I've been using them for years, works with everything. Most powerful adapter on the market.

Will I be able to fit a PCI Mini Card into a PCI Express slot? I was looking at the intel centrino wifi cards, 6200 / 6300 series. The Alfa wifi adapter is a bit hard to get in Canada.

I use the older AWUS036H 500W with a 9dbi antenna. Just keep in mind, their not exactly approved by the governing bodies because of how strong they are.
