Folding on PS3 - Page 2

No, I don't fold on the PS3. I don't want to wear down the hardware. While the PS3 is reasonably well designed, I don't think it can take full load 24/7.

I only fold for the visualization Its so.... nice. Its way better than the one for PC even if the ppd is stupid low. And the music is soothing when I do my homework.

I do. I get 2k-ish and I just have it on when I'm not doing much else.

IMHO, if I were to fold on my PS3, I'd leave it on 24/7. I think that the constant turning on/off is more harmful as it creates more cycles of the component's solder joints heating up, liquefying, cooling down, and re-solidifying. Whereas if you let it run constantly, the solder joints would just stay at a constant (warm) temperature and you wouldn't have to worry about the joints changing form as they go from hot to cold.

Just my theory.

I'm still not quite getting the answer I'm seeking, but at least some people aren't saying "Don't fold cause you wont get the high score".

Actually, the post above makes the most sense thus far.

Is there any proof that the PS3 gets warn down from folding? Was this only with the old PS3s and not the slim ones? Or is it the other way around?

Also, some of you don't get that all I really can fold on at the moment is my PS3. My usual rig is currently out of commission and my netbook doesn't handle it all to well (even completely freezing up one time). And obviously I'm not going to be folding on my iPod Touch or Wii.
