How Many FPS Would You Consider a Requirement for Gaming? - Page 9

30+, preferably 60 since that's my monitor's max rate
post #82 of 199
50+ is fine for most games. CSS 80+.

that's not true. if anything, it's more like 60 plus, but the human eye doesn't really see things in "frames" anyways.

but on topic, 60fps is ideal, but for less fast paced games (i.e halo, killzone) 30 is fine. but if COD was 30 fps it would be a terrible experience.

Seeing as my sig rig evolved from several years of running games in the low 20s, and I'm quite the graphics whore so usually have all games maxed out, I can live with anything high 20s and above. Of course, the 480 can give me a 40-50FPS minimum on all games except Crysis and Metro.
All you guys who claim 60fps minimum, damn you're picky 0.o

I'd say 30 is the bare minimum. Below that, and my eyes start to hurt. Although oddly enough, I play better at lower frame rates when it come to fpss.

I don't know if anyone mentioned stuttering, but it's far more eye straining having high fps with stutter than 30fps without. I don't know about anyone else, but that's just me. =P

45+ matters to me, but whatever it is, it HAS to be a consistent frame rate. when frame rates jump around, that's when you can tell. I'd prefer 30 fps, then 45 jumping from 45 - 30 then back up to 45 a whole bunch.
