Rampage 3 Extreme vs Rampage 3 Formula: Which is the better buy in the end?

Thread Starter
I've recently come into the market for a new high end gaming motherboard and was recommended the Asus Rampage 3 Extreme as the board to get. However, due to recent bad reviews about it having compatibility problems, multiple Asus quality control issues (mainly horror stories of how people have gotten multiple lemons of this board from both store purchase and RMAs) ,as well as, having only one USB header, I decided that I'd try for the Asus Rampage 3 Formula.

My friend still stands by the Extreme version and I'm back teetering on a thin line whether I should go for it or the Formula. Right now, I have 3 nVidia GTX 280's and I've been an nVidia supporter ever since I bought my first video card but I'm not completely closed off to purchasing ATI GPU's should I ever decide to switch so the support for 4 way Crossfire on the Extreme board is tempting. The Formula board, on the other hand, has more than one USB header and seems more standard in it form factor. Also, I haven't seen as many compatibility probem or lemon posts as the Extreme.

With that said, I would like to get some insight from you awesome people about which board would be a better buy. I'm not too big on overclocking but I want to have the ability to do it should I choose to do so. I am also open to other recommendations for other motherboards so long as they support 3 way SLI at true PCI-e 16x, have dual Gigabit Lan (optional), have a good potential for overclocking, and good for gaming. I was actually also looking at the EVGA Classified 4 Way SLI motherboard but I don't know if it will fit in my Antec 1200.

Otherwise, thank you for your consideration and I hope to heat from you soon! Cheers!

I have the R3F and it's been great, no problems. Great features and a great overclocker.
Speaking of overclocking, I would highly recommend you giving it a whirl seeing as you run 3 gpu's and you would definitely see an increase in performance.
