Worth to upgrade to Q6600 from E5200@3.3ghz?

Thread Starter
Is it worth to upgrade from my E5200@3.3ghz to Q6600?

I manage to find a Q6600 for USD $80. Is it worth to upgrade it-or just skip Q6600 and go to a newer chipset few years down the road?

Skip the upgrade, honestly you wont notice much of a difference in games or performance.

if you are going to wait for a couple of years then buy it.
more and more games are optimised for 4 cores eg, Civ v, GTA IV, BFBC2, etc...
plus any new ones in the next couple of years.

the Q6600 is basically 2 e6600's joined together.
buy it and then overclock it to at least 3.2GHz.
you will notice a difference in gaming

make sure its a G0 stepping version.
also the lower the VID the more it will overclock.
but any G0 stepping Q6600 should easily do upto 3.3ghz, some with proper cooling can do 3.8GHz

80$ is good value
