Game system requirements, how are they counted?

Thread Starter
Hi!

So I question came to me that i'd like to get answered if anyone can.

Let's say a game has the system requirtements:

Recommended:

Dual core processor with 3ghz.

Will my Hexacore (6core) processor with 2.8ghz meet up with this or will it be under recommended because its not 3ghz, or will the remaining 4 cores make it up?
How does it work? I know most of the games are only for 2 cores and some are for 4 cores.

Hope you understand my question ;P

thanks in advance

If you leave it at stock settings , the proc will overclock itself (turbo mode) to 3,3ghz if Im not mistaken, so you shouldnt worry about that.
On the other hand with that cpu cooling, you could easily overclock it to far greater mhz, just disable turbo then.

a 6 core processor at 2.8ghz is WAY more powerful than a dual core at 3ghz...

speed does not equal performance...

speed * work = performance...

your CPU is WELL above the recommended spec.

it will work you don't have to worry
and yes, those amd processors do overclock themselves when only 2 cores are used
and the min requirement might be old dual core at 3ghz, but let's remember that neew architecture brings gains meaning that if you have new architecture, your 2.8ghz even if only one core was used would perform better than the old architecture 3.5ghz overclocked single core or dual core
so to sum it up, the minimum requirements generally say from which era the processor should be from or newer to be able to run at decent details and decent performance
it doesn't mean that you really couldn't run the game with older or lesser hardware, but don't expect to play with quality settings if you do so
