WHAT'S THE best graphics card configuration for under $600 - Page 3

i dont know the prices there
but
2x 560
or 2x 570

depends if you can get a good deal

and get a i5 2500k

its is almostthe same price and its way better even the old i5 760 2.8 beat the amd x6

the i5 2300 2.8 is 17% faster than the i5 760

so the 2500 i5 3.3 will be all you need

for OP PowerColor 6950 460$ for both after rebates and promo codes (will eat throught 560Ti SLI and after unlocked to 6970 will come close to 570 SLI which is 700$ )
My very own CPU already bottlenecks my 470s @ 3,8 GHz, what makes you so sure I can't be right.........

Run 2 5850s or 470s on a PHII X6 or X4 and compare it to a 2500k or i7 920 on vantage and Stalker CoP benchmark. You'll notice the difference, especially in the minimum FPS. Those cards will be bottlenecked in CPU intensive parts.

Get the two 6950's. They are far more futureproof than 560's or 570's. The 2GB of VRAM also ensures that when you decide to go multi monitor or just get a higher resolution monitor down the road, the 6950's start to shine. Right now it's a near guarantee that you can unlock them to 6970's. Don't buy them for that, as maybe you will not be able too, but they are great cards, and definitely start to shine at higher resolutions. Or grab a 580. Those things are a beast.

Buy a single GPU now and spend more on an intel i7 platform. In a few months, snag another GPU. GTX570s IMO. You'll be far ahead of the curve that the premise of this current idea is headed for.

I've made my deciison, I'm either going to;

a) get 2 6950s $670
b) get 2 gtx560s $580
c) get 1 Zotac GTX580 $600 (and sli later on)

what do you think?

Not the 560's. They will be dated before you blink twice with the next gen of consoles on the horizon. Either the 6950's or the 580. Those are you best options for future proofing as much as possible. The two 6950's, when unlocked to 6970's, will beat the 580 in CF ofc, but you can't really do much but add a third card and that doesn't currently scale as well as 2. Your choice there. The 580 is a beast as I mentioned before, but you pay through the nose for it. Bang for buck go 6950's. Far better than 560's

Not enough VRAM IMO. Not good enough at resolutions beyond 1900X1200. Forget the 570's. Go for a 580 or the 6950's.

Well, I think I'll buy a 5970 and get a second one later on because my mobo doesn't properly support SLI.

thanks
