BSOD ntoskrnl.exe

Thread Starter
So this has happened twice now once each day and each time on my "first" boot up of the day. Basically it boots to windows logo then reboots 1 time and is fine after. Both dumps are at the bottom but debugger says ntoskrnl.exe ( nt+70740 ) is to blame.
I leave my PC on all day and no BSOD or any problems of the sort so I think it might be Windows or my HDD.

Is this just a corrupt OS file and if so would a basic repair fix it? I also read it links to hardware so plan to back up just in case. Thank you.

*edit*
1 more question...can ramdisks corrupt ram in the same way writes do to a SSD?

both dump files are of different bsod stop codes. both appear to be related to memory mapping errors, the second dump file seems to be caused by a bad driver, the first dump file seems to be a memory problem.

have you overclocked? have you ran memtest to verify your ram is okay?

as for your question about ramdisk, i don't believe they can damage ram like ssd suffer over time and use, but all electronics degrade, especially if they are overclocked.

Yes sir I overclocked but I never messed with my memory I do a 400x8 = 800mhz which is stock speeds + stock timings and voltage for my ram. I never noticed a improvement so I never saw the point of risking my ram for better benchmarks. The only reason I ask on ramdisk is I have a 200mb one for minecraft which does a ton of small 4kb writes.

I will run memtest tonight all night (should do 8-10 passes) and see whats up there. Any idea of what driver was causing the issue?

sorry the dumpfile didn't include which driver caused the crash. eventview might indicate which device driver did it.
