Overclocking, really surprises you.
doesnt do that for me ? im on 1.42v 24/7 .. my pcie frequency is set to 130mhz and my cards is flashed with 6970 bios + oc .. runs perfectly .. i dont even get bsod when my card is clocked to high it just hangs for 10 seconds and returns back to the desktop , thats what i love about this card ..

I love ati , not so much amd .. But amd is going to bring out some kick ass gfx cards this year

Those 2600 cards were never meant to be AGP cards, and were very unstable. I had one at one point and got rid of it as soon as I could.

I've never really had problems with ati or amd drivers, call me lucky.

Only time I get the same driver is not responding warning is when I am overclocking the card

ati drivers are unfortunately hit and miss. it seems the miss usually resolves around something that is unknown and maybe/hopefully fixed in future driver releases.

nvidia has issues, but a lot less and can usually be fixed by doing a proper driver cleaning and reinstallation.

regardless, check my sig and wipe your drivers. try again.

basically what you are saying here, its not compatible with dx or opengl? since most 3d rendering programs will use one of those API's to interact with the card.

but then again, ATI has always had poor OpenGL support.

Do it the right way ! and save urself from bashing on amd's drivers .. nvidias are just as bad , if not worse .
wow...blaming amd's crappy drivers and installer, on the user, brilliant. now pull your head out of your a$$ and actually do some research on this, ati's drivers have historically and currently, have been poor.

and i'm not a nvidia fanboy, its kinda hard to be a fanboy of a company, cause you only have 2 choices for mainstream graphics cards, and you have to choose the less crappier of the two, and that happens to be nvidia.

Still doesn't answer my question.

I've also had Nvidia cards I've never had any driver problems with. So how are drivers that I've never had any problems with and perform as expected inferior to drivers that I've never had any problems with and perform as expected?

You're statement isn't quite right. Two things may not necessarily fail while one can still be inferior. Besides it's not only one case one should consider but the overal image of the situation.

Fanboy much? I've never had problems with any of my nvidia drivers while I had tons of stuttering on my 5770 crossfire. Nvidia generally has way more stable drivers however they occasionally have a botched release too.

Hmmm... Yes ATI's/AMD's drivers have been so historically poor..lets take a look at them...

1. With their crappy software they were able to ultilize DDR5 VRAM with a mere 256 bit bus(in the 4870 when it was introduced) and a 128-bit bus(in the 5770 now)...if i recall it took till the fermi release for Nvidia to do the same...especially since they saw the gains ATI gained from using DDR5 VRAM...

2. Also with their crappy drivers/software they were able to let ATI users crossfire differenet cards in the same series of GPUs...unlike Nvidias...you SLI a GTX 460 with a 460 ONLY... I think the software designers at ATI were so DUMB(sarcasm) they had this WILD idea that not everyone can afford to top tier cards to pair with it...So someone came with this insane idea to give their customers more of a CHOICE...

3. On top of that..the designers and software engineers at ATI had this silly idea for DX10 that was ORIGINALLY proposed ...but some of the GENIUSES at Nvidia said..."No...that is too hard to do...we propose this" and paired off alot of the ridiculious ideas ATI had(which turned to DX10.1) and had this MUCH better DX10 version... I wonder how well THAT version of DX was used by the developers??...

Oh we did see this ludicrous implementation done in the original release of Assasins Creed... But Nvidia then reminded Ubisoft on how HARD it was to do what ATI proposed and then agreeing with Nvidia...The next patch of AC FIXED the "hard thing" Ubisoft was attempting to do...

4. Also in another BOLD but stupid move...When DX11 was agreed upon by the wise and all knowing Nvidia... ATI had the AUDACITY to make a card that implemented this technology first!!!...DIDNT THEY KNOW THEY HAD TO FOLLOW NVIDIA'S LEAD???!!!... The sheer gall of them!!...The student should NEVER embarrass the teacher like that!!....

5. In another idiotic feat of software development ATI introduced this silly thing called "Eyefinity"...Some nitwit driver developer thought they could employ tri monitor(or in some cases 6 monitor) display/gaming from a single video card!!!....Didnt they know that Nvidia has determined that it takes TWO videos cards to due such a feat!!!.... LUNACY at its height!!!

Now for those that haven't busted a artery due to high blood pressure from reading this...Take what I said with a grain of salt...BOTH GPU makers have advanced our gaming experience in one way or another....BOTH have their pros AND cons... Nvidia and ATI/AMD both have had their driver issues(the nvidia driver that friend high end gpus, and certain ATI releases having performance loss) and their hardware issues...

I am just glad we have at least TWO GPU makers to push each other and provide competitive prices to go with it...
