Help - Best monitors for eyefinity?

Thread Starter
I have been looking for quite a while now but i still cant find any monitors with thin bezels. So i was wondering if someone here would know a good monitor

I am looking for 3 monitors (with thin bezels), the one i'm using now will go to my mom (Buying me one of the 3 monitors )

The monitor i have seen so far is: LG E2260V 22"

But will it do for eyefinity?

That monitor would work fine.

First off, you'd need a display port to vga or dvi adapter. It must be advertised as eyefinity validated or it won't work properly.

Second, what the heck are you gonna do with eyefinity and a single 5670? You won't be able to run any games properly.

haha, i know that
Will be buying a 5850 in a bit. But i am looking for eyefinity screens since my mom is willing to buy me a new monitor, so that why

And i think that i have such an adapter laying around somewhere

The display port adapter needs to be an active display port adapter. They're about $30 on newegg.
As for monitors, I would save some cash and get these Acer 23". They're a little cheaper and a little bigger.
But like De-Zant said, running eyefinity on a single HD5670 probably wont run very many games on playable frame rates.
I'd suggest either selling your HD5670 and getting something like an HD 6850/6870. If that's not possible maybe getting a second HD5670 for Crossfire might work.

5850 = meh. It will run SOME of your games fine but games like BC2 won't run too smoothly without lowering the settings a bit. And with only 1gb of VRAM, you probably won't be able to use more than 2xAA in any game.

You already have the adapter? Most likely not. It NEEDS to be eyefinity validated. Most DP to DVI adapters are passive, and thus won't work. The rarer ACTIVE ones work, but you most likely don't have one. But feel free to check if it works when you have your monitors setup.

Lucky me that I'm living in Europe, The one you said is €10,- more expensive then the LG one but it looks better and the bezels are thinner

@De-Zant, Would you recommend a 6850/6870?
And i dont think i have an active adapter laying around somewhere, so i will have to spend a few extra euros on that.

6870 = 5850 basically. It can run some games fine with a few lowered settings.

If you have 5850 or 6870 crossfire though, it'd be perfectly fine.

Remember, the adapter MUST be eyefinity validated. That's the easiest way of recognizing an active adapter if you don't know much about the subject. But even all active adapters don't work well with eyefinity. An eyefinity validated adapter is pretty much the only way to be reasonably sure that it's gonna work.

Thanks for that, i really never knew that , Else I'm sure i would have bought an active one witch is not eyefinity classified. And then that acer monitor looks good and has a very good price tag (180 euros).

You guys helped me out again!

Active = eyefinity validated most of the time.

Just make sure the adapter you buy is validated or check if it's on the AMDs site listed as a supported adapter.

Those adapters aren't even that expensive if you compare it to the extra stuff you get once you have it
Thanks a lot
