Extra 6870? - Page 2

I'm using 2 6870's, no driver problems and runs any game nicely on a 27" at 1920x1080.

If you want a great ATI single vs cf and single screen vs eyefinity review this is it.

http://www.widescreengamingforum.com..._Review_Page_4

Many people have complained about 6870cf performance. I think the drivers still have issues. I suspect they will eventually fix them. I tried 2 ref cards in CF, I did like the low temps from the cards.

I would go with one larger monitor over eyefinity. Heck, my 28 is not enough, I just bought a 50 for my office! Cant wait to set it up.

Good luck.

Nice How is 1920x1080 on a 27"?
Higher resolutions seems to almost double the price.

gaming on a 50" would be awesome i think.
Maybe i should try hooking my 50" TV to my computer just for the fun.
Why i never thought of that.

EDIT:
Just got a sweet offer on 2 x GTX 570's.
I can 2 of theese for the same price as 2 x HD6870.

Do you think i should get those? Or would another HD6870 be fine?

Get the two gtx 570's. They are amazing cards. I was shocked even one played Metro2033 well. Two in SLi would be amazing. All the issues of compatibility and ATi drivers failing will go away and you get the performance you pay for. PLus Physx and multi-screen support.

Those cases are both great but if you are looking for something a little smaller you could use a CM 690 II advanced. It is 8.4 x 19.5 x 20.8 and can fit two 240 or one 240 and one 280 internally. Just a thought.

Look at this review from a OCN member...Though he did 580s versus 6970s...but only pointed this thread out to show that the 580s lack of vram could cause issues with some games with tri-monitor gaming.. the 570 has even less vram than the 580s...while a 6950 does come with 2GB...

http://www.overclock.net/nvidia/9124...-vs-580-a.html

If you plan on keeping your 6870 and adding another... keep the details in the med-high range, with no AA and you should be fine...If you plan on upgrading to the price range of two 570s...then look at the 2GB versions of the 6950...spend alot less money and get almost the same amount of performance..

I agree about tri-screen, Why is it taking so long with monitors made for multi-screen that have no bezels.
I second this motion. Depends on your individual situation and what you want mostly out of them.

If your not ready to commit to a more expensive one card solution then I'd suggest since your half way there already just crossfire your Sapphire AMD 6870.

I had an MSI AMD 6870 TwinFrozr II card for almost a month and decided instead of crossfiring it would be best to get the GTX 580. One powerful card. Runs Crysis @ 1920x1080 enthusiast AA x4 vsync on like a hot knife through butter.

Allright i decided to go with the 570's
I just ordered one which i will be getting monday.

Now to the big (noob) question. 8-D
Is it worth waiting for bulldozer, now that i've chosen the Nvidia cards?

Do you know if the new chipsets for bulldozer will run with Nvidia cards?
Read somewhere, that they wouldnt ( Which i think is unrealistic but hey, you never know)

Sandy bridge looks awesome, especially because of the 5 GHz overclocks.
I know i properbly won't gain much performance from my 920 @ 4,2GHz.
