Hi Guys
Im new to overclocking and i am just wondering were to start really?...

Would i need to get any other software/hardware to achieve around 4.2GHz from my i7 950.

My machine is a new build and the HDD is clean so i think im pretty much ready to go but thats just me.

You'll have some trouble reaching 4.2 Ghz on a H50.

Actually, with the hardware you have, you won't have a lot of problems reaching 4.2 Ghz...

You'll have problems maintaining it

I used this guide when I first started as well. You should have no problems with hitting 4.2w/HT if your ambients are low. I'm at 4.2w/HT on at an idle between 38 & 42C and a load of 50-60C (folding). Since it's winter you should find your max OC while the temps are low, then as it heats up towards summer back off your clocks, that way you will have a wide range of OC clocks depending on the weather.
