How to change your Windows XP Volume Licensing product key!

Hey there again people. Now if you have been a victim of receiving a copy of Windows XP that hasn’t got a legitimate ‘‘ Volume Licensing product key '' and prevents you from getting Microsoft Windows updates and other Microsoft software then this is how to change your ‘‘ Volume Licensing product key ’’ to a new product key that you have purchased a licence to.

This step involves editing system registry keys so please backup your registry before performing these steps!!!.

Right here we go:

1. Go to the Start bar and click on Run
2. In the run bar type ''regedit'', then click ok
3. In the left pane, locate and click the following registry key
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\\Software\\Microsoft\\WindowsNT \\Current Version\\WPAEvents

4. in the right pane of the current open window ''Right click'' on the key named ''OOBETimer'' and select ''Modify''.
5. Now a new box will open up. Within this box change at least one Digit
6. in the start bar click on ''Run'' and in the command line type
%systemroot%\\system32\\oobe\\msoobe.exe /a and then click ok to start the Windows CD key activation wizard.

7. When the wizard box pops up click on the option '' Yes, I want to telephone a customer service representative to activate Windows ’’, then click next.

8. In this window click '' Change product key''
9. Now in this window type in you’re newly purchased ''Volume Licensing product key''. And after that click ''Update''
10. If you are then returned to the previous window click on the button ''Remind me later'' and now restart your computer.

11. To check that the process went correctly repeat steps 6. and 7. If the process went correctly then you should get a message stating '' Windows is already activated'' Then click ok.

There you have it you have now changed your Windows Volume CD key to a valid one and now you can receive Microsoft products.

Nice FAQ enterprise, and yes i think its more fun trying to do it yourself through the registry rather than have a program do it for you, unless of course if its a major job that would take hours manually, in this case it wont
And johnny, why didn't you just leave it at you can also download free programs to help!

Cheers mate. I love messing about and changing things manually..Its more fun lol. I would only reccomend using a program to someone who just havent got a clue.

I submitted this about a year ago and was forced to remove it in fear of piracy. Even though I included that it was for information purposes, or if you've received a pirated copy.............
