thats good.

Though at 30$ each you could get a rasa watercooling kit as well costs about the same.

On the other hand, if you -don't- run out and spend ~1000 dollars on GPUs, then you're just wasting ~100 dollars on a PSU that's too-big-for-you.

Upgrading to 2 extremely high end GPUs isn't something you do on a whim. It's not a casual upgrade like adding a new HDD or extra RAM. (even if you did, an 850w unit would be PLENTY, unless bulldozer a real power hog)

Buy a nice 650-750w unit, and use that extra money to replace your RAM or just pocket the difference.

When building around a budget, it's important not to overspend on unneccesary and not-beneficial parts.

if its faster then this 2600k at 4.5ghz per core, then ill buy it

if not, ill stick to my SB rig
Going to buy it, test, and prolly fold it to see how it measures up.
Not meant to replace my current sig rig as that is being upgraded to the upcoming intel socket.

I agree with you,I'm thinking 1000w because i dont know if i will do 2x 460's, or 1 powerful card and 2 powerful cards, It will all depend on money at the time. the 1000w is kind of a place holder in the list,

I plan to build my first full new rig in a long time around it.
High end 8 core
My true copper + h1011's with shin etsu x23
GTX580 or dual 6970s
Finally put my 8gb of hypers to good use
Vertex 3 when it drops or keep my c300 + 2tb F4
ax750 psu
Good mobo

Wait
Though I'll have $400 by April (Assuming Bulldozer will be that affordable), I'll save up over the summer for it, as well as let bulldozer chips mature (chips that overclock better with lower voltage usually come out later)

In September the 8-core prices will be down or hopefully a 16-core client variant is out; I'd like as much cores as possible, I'm a video encoder
And I'll be getting a more midrange 990X mobo, hopefully from Gigabyte [similar tier to current mobo]
Use current GTS 450 (don't really need GPU power) unless a find deal on Craigslist again
Use the NH-D14 + Delta fans
Clock to to 5Ghz+ on air
Rechristen sig rig as "Octagonal"

Martkilu did you say 8GB of Hypers? Unused?

Well I'd have too sell my Asus crosshair 4 first.
But I'd do something like this:
Asus crosshair 5 formula
8 core Zambezi
4 more gigs of ram
A third 5830 (cuz I can)

And that's it. My current rig has everything I want anyway (not my sig rig obviously)

Not sure if im going bulldozer. If its better than SB ill grab it. If not tough luck AMD, im going back over to Intel. Im not going top of the line on either one though. I see no point in that as it will just be outdated quickly anyway and anything I build will be more power than I need to begin with.

Ill grab a good quality CPU, a well priced and good quality motherboard, probably a GTX 570, a 40GB SSD, and 4 more Gigs of RAM and if I need it, a new PSU.

In all reality ill probably wait until the C2 revisions come out at the least.

EDIT: No amount of performance will make me leave my price/performance spending bracket.
If SB ends up being worse than BD, but BD is at Intel prices, ill just grad a Sandybridge setup.
Im not going to spend loads of money on something that will just be replaced in a few years anyway when a moderate amount will get me the performance I need now and give me the OC headroom to keep up later.
