Opinions on my purchase? (MOBO+CPU)

Thread Starter
Long story short I had 200 bux to spend on my PC (look below and you'll see that its some old "ISH").

At first i was going to upgrade the Video card alone to a GTS 450 but was persuaded to spend the money on a new mobo+cpu (memory on the way as well).

This is what I ended up with (in my budget):

AMD - Athlon™ II X3 Processor 450

ASUS M4A77TD

PNY DDR3 1600 (2x2gig)

Hopefully my PSU will stand up to the combo. I plan to use my current sata HD and not sure on a case yet.

My next purchase will likely be an evga GTX 460 (in a month or so)

Anyway, how am I doing so far? I did some research and found that my MOBO does allow core unlocking **EDIT** 4th core can be unlocked.

Opinions? (please keep in mind this is a "within my budget" setup as i have 2 small children to provide for.)

**EDIT** For those wondering why I bought at Best buy, all I can say is gift cards galore =P...

Looks good, but I'm not sure if that 420watt can handle a 460.

Haha yeah it cant. I will be upgrading the PSU to a corsair 650 or 750 (haven't decided yet).

A 460 at full load uses around 280 watts plus your PC which will draw around 200 so im going to say no to the PSU

go with atleast a 520 that will more then cover it

So the above mentioned would be overkill? I can't see needing anymore power and I can save a few bux going with a 550 vs a 650. (PS I may OC it a bit)

You can always go for a higher wattage PSU just depends on how much you want to spend. your not going to see a crazy OC tho on that 450 Rana. Owned one myself

You can get a neo eco 650 for 10.00 more.

Good to know, LOL believe it or not coming from a single core 3500+ from 2001-ish, I think even without an OC I'm going to be amazed at the speed.
