Had I known that you need a cooler just to ensure that the computer posts I would have attached one...luckily for me I got away with doing it this once, and its a mistake ill never make again...

honestly man, like I said previously, it is perfectly fine
to use no heat sink to make sure a board POSTs or some ram works or something. Like i also said, just keep your finger on the chip
and if you are still using the comp and its to hot to keep your finger there, then shut it down. Flesh starts burning well before 100C so if its still just really hot then you are A-OK.
