460 Safe Clock Speeds?

Thread Starter
I have a Gelid Icy Vision on my once stock EVGA 460 EE, and its currently running 900/1800/1900 stable @ 1.062. Thing is, its still running around 52c at most during heavy gaming. I just tried 950 core @ 1.075 and it wasn't stable. Does anyone know the limits of this card?
I know I have VRM heatsinks now thanks to the Icy Vision, but I don't know what a safe clock speed for the memory is since I don't know the temps of it

depends on how lucky you were when you were given the card by your retailer. If you were lucky, your 460 might handle 1ghz. If not anywhere between 850-950 are common speeds for most overclocked 460's

EDIT: not sure about the memory :\\

Any core clocks over ~925MHz on my 460 is unstable. To ensure stability with my card I run it at 900MHz core/1800MHz Shader/2000MHz Memory with 1.087V. I could probably get by with less volts at 900MHz, but I have such good temps with the MSI Twin Frozr II that it doesn't really matter.

I've never tried pushing the memory further than 2000MHz so I can't really say what the max is.

900-950mhz is the typical wall. I doubt you will get more out of her.
Mine does 900 core at 0.975. haven't pushed it any further yet though
post #6 of 18
AppetiteNZ try to fold on it and see that it is not stable can it even run vantage or 3dmark11 with that low voltage? cause i have mine under water and i need 1.125v to reach 950MHz.... (24/7 folding stable)

The most mine can run at is 1.087 according to afterburner. Is it safe to run that high as long as my temps are low enough?

It's not the clock that matters but voltage. I'm trying to max out clocks at 1.087 too but I've seen people run 1.1+ 24/7 on stock cooling so I would think it's safe. It's an easy BIOS mod to remove the 1.087 limit in NiBiTor.

Not sure about RAM but I've read that GDDR5 runs up to rated clocks and that any higher will cause them to degrade very quickly. Chances are that's a load of bull, but I'm erring on the side of caution and staying at 2000 mem.

Also OCCT GPU test or Heaven bench for stability.

What would be acceptable on air? It runs at around 32C on idle and 66C under full load. Are these cards cool for 75-80C? Also whats up with the 70% max fan?
