x8 should be fine as long as he is stable at that FSB. Higher FSB = better performance.

nemmfesta

I see you are using watercooling. Maybe you should try for 3.6GHz + ?

im not 100% on overclocking which will probably make you ive read around forums ect and gone from there really i know when i have it x9 @ 3.2 my dram frq is less than 400MHz @ 1:1 so if i set it to x8 its 425MHz @3.4, which i think is better? im probably talking c@rp?!?

my system seems to fail when i push it to 3.6, my rig folds and the cores run @ 100% which is probably why it does this.

like ive mentioned earlier im not the most confident when overclocking so there are probably other settings i could try to get a better overclock im just not sure what to tweak

3.4 is where I ended up at, but I only put 20 min. into working with it. I was using the King of Socket 775 Overclockers (EP45-UD3P) though.

May I ask what is your HT, SB and NB voltages for the 3.4 Ghz? Buddy is trying to overclock and he is struggling right now at 3.0 Ghz with all voltages around 1.3+

Thats a nice vcore for 3.4. At 3.2 I run 1.375 to be 24/7 folding stable with temps in the 60's

my cpu voltage is @ 1.39 the rest are set to auto i havnt touched those

I adjusted CPU ratio to x8

then the CPU fsb frequency up to 426 which worked out to 3408 (3.4) not much magic in it really i thought overclocking was going to be more difficult
