jackbrennen didn't you hit like 5.7ghz with HT on. lol. It makes almost no difference in OC ability for SB. When i use my computer i use all threads and more than 5%.

If you are just gaming and watching movies I'd say HTing off.

It has been proven that 200mhz is way better if you are a gamer than HT on. Think about it, people make it seem that you only have 1 core. You have 4 physical cores for multitasking, nothing like webrowsing, listen to music, using word processing, etc max out 2 cores and you have 4. HT only help in video encoring, decompressing etc but nothing MOST people will be using in their basic days.

2600k is not a 2500k with HT but people make it seems that way. just like the same with E8400, E8500, E8600, q9550, q9650 etc. all of them where a little higher in price because it has higher clock and little change in the multiplier. well guess what, 2600k also has higher clock and bigger cache than a 2500k. Would you notice the different..... probably not, but did people who bought a q9650 for $300 more notice the different from people who bought the q9550 aswell? they didn't. (only in benchmark). 2600k will always have a better resale value than the 2500k.

i sent to a pm the other day asking if you can send me you bios o.c settings

i have the same build as you

that if you don,t mind to some guy don,t want to shear
there settings with others

and you have to clean your pm.s it,s full

if you bought a 2600K try your best to keep it on

if you're going to turn it off you should have just gotten a 2500K IMO

Yes! Hyper-threading is still a debate! I have my turned off. Reason being, I do not worry about the milli seconds i loose on a applications etc. I very rarely multi task on my computer, either surfing or playing games.

The other reason is, I use the least amount of fans as i can on my rig, 4 only, including NOCTUA SE1366 NH-U12P using 1 fan! Not in to the coolest but lean more to the quitest. My temps are about 37 idle and 63 primetime at 3360MHz. Its quite!

Hyper-threading = more heat = more fans = more noise - unless watercooled! And I have never liked water and electric!

Overclocking - too get the highest score is a different ball game!

I dont think the general public does multi-tasking in a big way.
