I am trying to get a stable 4.0+.

Looking to get some advice concerning NB/CPU overclocking. Also kinda mystified about HT and if I should play with that as well.

Let me know what I should post to help with the diagnosis, in case the validation link doesn't give all the necessary data.

I am using AIDA64 and have a question concerning temps of the cpu. My CPU temp reads about 3-5 degrees higher than the actual core temps. Should I be using the higher CPU temp as my guide for my overclocks or should I ignore this and use the core temps. I am pushing 61 degrees on the CPU sensor temp with 1.5 Vcore and I am water cooling my CPU. I would like to get my Vcore up to 1.55 in order to offset the Vdroop but that pesky sensor makes me nervous. I am also curious about the MCP temp sensor in this program. Is this the sensor for the NB? Mine seems to be running in the mid 50's with 1.25 on my NB/CPU. I have stolen a heat pipe fan from my old M3n-ht Deluxe (which seems to fit perfectly BTW) to actively cool the NB/SB/VREG due to the voltage increase to my NB/CPU. I seem to be running pretty stable at 4.0Ghz with my memory at 1600mhz without loosening any timings.

Vcore= 1.5
NB/CPU= 1.25
DRAM= 1.66
HT=Auto
NB=Auto
Multi= 20.0
NB/CPU= 2600Mhz
HT= 2600Mhz

you go by the core temps, not case temps. I used to run on this board and now that I just got BD I will be putting the 970BE back on the M4n98td-evil which was a great system for me for a long time

Well I wouldn't call it a case temp as it is titled CPU. I am assuming this is a temp diode that is situated externally (possibly on the outer silver housing of the processor). I am still confused as far as the MCP sensor is concerned. Would like to know if anyone knows exactly what this sensor is for. I am guessing NB or possibly the onboard GPU co-processor which would make it the SB if I am not mistaken. Anyone else cooling the CPU with water and getting CPU core temps 57-59 degrees with 1.53 volts while under load using prime95 or equivalent? I would really like to see those temps closer to 55. It seems 1.52-1.53 is as low as I can go and still keep the voltage stable enough to pull off my 4.0 Ghz oc.

Drop the HT back to 2000,otherwise it looks ok.
Go here and fill it in http://www.overclock.net/specs.php?do=addsystem ,thanks

As Bradford1040 said go by core temps.
MCP is the SB and mine runs in the mid 40c's with C&Q enabled.
Using the squirrel cage is a good idea since you are W/C and loose airflow over the mosfet area.
I use them on my M2N32's to great effect.

Good luck

I am water cooling my cpu and can't get my voltage safely to 1.5 and beyond. What type of temps are being reported on air and water with voltage 1.5+. Now these temps that I am getting are after 15-20 minutes of Blended testing in prime95. Now at 1.5 the Vdroop will go as low as 1.392 so 4.0 Ghz is unatainable. The lowest I can really think about going on the Vcore is about 1.53. I am under the impression that keeping the cpu below 60c at 1.5+ can be achieved on air so I am scratching my head on this on. I am tempted to pull my water block and reapply my thermal compound and re-seat the darn thing. Here are my current BIOS settings. I hit 61c with these:

Multi= 19.5
Vcore= 1.5
NB/CPU= 1.3
DRAM= 1.66
VDD= 2.8
NB= Auto
RAM= 1600 Mhz
NB/CPU= 2600
HT= 2000

In addition my radiator is external to my case and sits in my window pulling in air from out doors and my ambient temp in the room is 76f (usually 67f).

Something is wrong with the cooling. I never had any problems with temps. 54 C max on a hot summer day. I use 1,5v and it drops to ~ 1.42. High CPU/NB voltage can affect CPU temp so try to lower that.

There was a problem. I had my coolant output from the reservoir going to my CPU instead of my radiator then CPU. Quick disconect fittings got switched around. Now temps are starting to jive. My NB/CPU voltage is set to 1.25 so I don't think it is causing all that much extra heat. I bumped the Vcore up to 1.55 and am stressing right now to see where the temps land. I think that might be my maximum voltage though by the looks of things. I have noticed the voltage drops to 1.424 under load and am hoping I can hit 4.1 Ghz with that much. Wish me luck!

Added both, and welcome!

Moto377, your validation doesn't specify what CPU you're using. And don't forget to fill out your system specs for your sig.
