Bit more information which makes me ponder ASUS.

On their website several people have reported the BIOS as being buggy but they have done nothing, there are far fewer BIOS revisions for this board than there was for the M4N72-E.

I wonder whether the manual is actually correct about this overvoltage jumper!

Lastly, the Vdroop is explained away by ASUS as "intel states that under load the Vcore should reduce" bizarre given that this is an AMD board!

Ok, some progress, the CPU/NB voltage can be manually set but only to values up to and including 1.3V, any higher than that and it refuses to recognise it and defaults to 1.15V.

I have my CPU at 3.96Ghz with 1.575V (BIOS) Over volt Jumper enabled - 1.475V CPU VID - 220 x 18 Multi

I have my RAM again at 1760Mhz at 8-8-8-24 1T at 1.66V manually set.

When you select the RAM speed it asks if you want to automatically adjust RAM voltage, I would say no to this as I think it may auto adjust other things as well!

My CPU/NB is at 2860 at 1.3V set manually in the BIOS, am gonna try testing the games agin with this setting, maybe now I can gain this little bit extra, I think pushing for 3080Mhz will be pushing it at 1.3V which seems to be the maximum I can manually set.

Have left the Nforce voltage alone becuase as I understand it that chip only comes into play when using SLI.

Left the HT voltage alone as it is sensitive and set the NB voltage to 1.16V up from 1.10V just to help it all along.

I will let you know how this goes. Turbo is disabled by the way, C and Q is on and C1E is enabled also.

Ok, still running into issues when playing games above 2640Mhz CPU/NB at 1.25V, its stable at that so am gonna leave it alone.

CPU: 3960Mhz - 3.96Ghz at 1.575V (bios) 1.475V CPU/VID 220 x 18 Multi Turbo disabled
CPU/NB at 2640Mhz at 1.25V (bios) 1.25V NB/VID
RAM at 1760Mhz 8-8-8-24 1T at 1.66V DDR3
HT link at 2200Mhz (x10)

I have a feeling that some of my issues with the CPU/NB were being caused by MSR Tweaker which I thought I had uninstalled,

Anyway have reinstalled Phenom MSR tweaker.

Applied the following settings

All voltages in BIOS except NB voltage are left on auto. NB voltage bumped to 1.16V

C1E, Cool and Quiet, Turbo and Secure Virtual Machine mode disabled, all spread spectrums disabled too.

Overclocking to manual. Ratio set to AUTO, HT set to 220Mhz

RAM at 1760Mhz at 8-8-8-24-32-1T at 1.66V

CPU/NB set to 2640Mhz, HT link set to 2200Mhz

Then in Phenom MSR tweaker, P0 and P1 set to 18 X at 1.50V cpu/vid and 1.225V cpunb/vid

P2 set to 12 X at 1.3V, P3 set to 8 X at 1.275V and P4 set to 4 X at 1.2V, hit apply, then hit service, then check enable custom C and Q, then hit make P states permanent, then select update to store your current settings, then hit apply again. With the last three P states cpunb/vid left at 1.15V

This gives 3.96Ghz on the cpu, with Nb at 2640Mhz and HT link at 2200Mhz, perfectly stable, no crashes in games anymore, Yippee!

I am 100% confident that this all my CPU has to give, its been like this on both boards, I guess with some LLC available on AMD chipsets, it may have a little more, but what the heck, its nearly 4Ghz!

hi guys, can i insert 2 ATI Radeon 7750 in the pcie16 slots to get crossfire?. i know this supports only sli, but 7750 is crossfire enabled only thru internally, so thought might work, anyone tried or got any idea??. PL dont suggest any other graphics card, because i need only this Graphics card of 2 quantities...biggrin.gif

I don't think it will work as this uses a nvidia chipset.

hmmm thanks, but will these 2 cards work as some separate cards? , will there be any difference in working in crossfire and working as 2 separate cards?
It will probably not recognize the second card.
You can run ati as primary and an nvidia for physx.

Hey I am a new evo owner with a cheap cpu to get back into the swing of things for now

Quick update, computer now tried and tested for months and all is stable. Intel burn test stable at maximum settings with peak core temp of 60c.

CPU finally at 3.918Ghz with a ratio of 19 with HT set at 206
Memory Bus is at 825Mhz x 2 = 1650Mhz at 8-8-8-24-CR1
HT link at 2268Mhz
NB at 2887Mhz

Because of the issues that I was having with this board seemingly setting its own Cpu/nb voltages no matter what I tried to apply in BIOS, it was setting 1.45V for 2887Mhz which is way to high, so in phenom MSR tweaker, I set the cpu/nb voltage to 1.100V, which fools the BIOS into actually setting 1.35V which is about right for 2887Mhz on the NB.

Intel Burn Test is giving 75.25 Gflops

And maxxmem comes out at around 9.8GB/s

These settings do work although its a pain having to twiddle with Phenom MSR tweaker but once correct, and applied, the settings can be saved to memory for boot up and basiclly forgotten about.

I also lowered some of the cpu voltages for the other states of the processor as some of these are too high for what the cpu can actually operate at.
