Testing Shader OC on GTX 570

Thread Starter
Does Kombustor push the shaders hard enough to stress test an OC? If not, are there any readily available stress tests that do so (other than F@H)?

Edit: How about GPU RAM? Kombustor is only using like 150MB.

Run a few loops of either the Metro 2033 benchmark or Crysis benchmark. If you start seeing artifacts then your OC is not stable.

And as for RAM I wouldn't really push much past 2100MHz as it honestly doesn't show as much gain as overclocking core clock.

I'm one to not bother with stress testing. I make sure my card is stable to run what I want to run by running what I want to run.

For folding, I set card to certain speed and let it run. If it survived the day with no EUE, then go up some. Keep doing so until you find point of max stability.

I just got finished doing this. I did 9 runs in the Crysis benchmark, and it seemed to be stable (no artifacts/crashing/shutdown) at 900/1800/2000 @1.038v. I'm pretty happy with that

I'm gonna try letting it fold tonight to see if it's 100% folding stable.

Thanks for the recommendations guys.

I don't fold anymore but when I did, it was competitively. When it was the old gpu competition and gtx 2xx cards were the top producers, I had my 275 killing the competition. All that card ever did was fold, it's sole purpose from the day I bought it was to fold. I just set shaders to a respectable number and went from there. I tested each strap for a day until I reached one that got EUE's, then backed it down a strap and tested again.

I'd imagine with Fermi, it's a lot more difficult since there are really no defined straps as with the older generation cards.

But since Folding was all the card was going to do, the best way to test shaders was by folding.

How are shaderoverclocks as to gains in performance, how much would u gain if u say overclock 100, 200 ,300 or even 400 mhz shader?
