Okay, so my motherboard broke today. In my computer I had installed a set of 500GB drives in RAID 0 configuration. How will I be able to use another motherboard and still be able to access the information stored on these drives? Do I just install the raid controllers on another motherboard and plug and play? Would I be able to plug the 2 drives into another computer and boot into the OS that I had installed there?

Alright i have been in the same position as you. If the controller is the same, you shouldn't have a problem at all. You should be able to plug it in, select RAID and then everything will be normal.

If your raid controllers are different however, this can get very tricky. Post back if this is the case.

I have no idea how I can tell. I'm very raid illiterate and had a few problems installing the OS onto the computer in the first place.

You should consult your motherboard manual or look at the box or look it up online....basically find out what RAID controller you have. Make sure your new motherboard has the same company at least before plugging the drives in.

Did you get the same motherboard?

I haven't bought a new one yet. I dunno where I'd be able to get the same one.

I think I used the AMD SATA RAID Driver available from their website.

The raid controller and the driver is different. Your ONBOARD RAID CONTROLLER is fitted into your motherboard. This is what you want to find out, and then somehow get a motherboard with a similar controller.

Which motherboard did you own?

okay, I think I found a solution. Basically, I'm gonna use raid reconstructor and then open the image with getbackdata and try and save all the files I need. Afterwards, I can just wipe the drives and install the OS anew on the next motherboard. I think I'm just gonna buy a 1tb hard drive. I didn't even notice the raid0 really.
