Can someone let me know what they think?? - Page 2

To answer your first question, yes its overkill. To answer the second, its not a great PSU. Can you still cancel your order? Check out the OCN recommended PSU thread for more info.
EDIT: A solid 500W unit would be my recommendation. It'll give you a little headroom for potential upgrades (though a solid 400W would probably do). The key when getting a PSU is quality, not wattage. A good 400W PSU would kick a crappy 600W's ass as far as efficiency, reliability, and power.

Incorrect. That benchmark you saw was of the whole system being drawn from the wall.

This. Many people (including myself, I'm sad to say) have fallen into the PSU overkill trap. If you get a quality PSU, you'd be surprised how little Ws you need.

Though the statements about efficiency are nonsensical, the statements about wall draw are spot on.

I would agree with people that for the same dollar spent you would do better with a higher quality PSU for your rather meager needs. Better chance at OC, cleaner power makign components happier, win-win.

It's not a bad unit, not in the top tier, but not bad. Ripple and voltage regulation are in spec, and it's certainly way better than the junk heap you're using now OP. You should be able to push your chip a little further with cleaner power, or at the very least keep the same clocks at a lower voltage setting, it's not the best bargain by a long shot, but you could have done a lot worse.

Thanks for all the replies guy's!!!

But im still gonna keep my hopes up on getting a little more out of my components with the new psu!!

We will see what happens when i get it and hook it up!!

I will do some overclocking and see what i can achieve? My highest so far on the current system i have now was 4.8Ghz on the i3 530 @1.5v and the highest i got on the xfx hd 5770 was 1025/1440 @1.2v and my rams highest was 1980mhz!!!

Just a heads up. I used this OCZ ModXStream Pro OCZ600MXSP 600W in a build for a co worker. It lasted about a year and a half before craping out. I decided to order the same model and RMA the original. Well the replacement poped upon the first boot up and I sent it back to newegg. I decided to use a XFX as they seem to get great reviews and are built on the seasonic platform. I wont be using a OCZ powersupply agian.
