Mobo questions

So basically im wanting to upgrade my computer because a friend of mine tripped and completely destroyed two of my back USB ports, plus it's not a ddr3 MOBO so it makes me weep silently inside. I am looking at two MOBOs both are cheap, and they are hybrid am2+/am3 mobos. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813157226

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813157204

Looking at those two, which one would be the perfect choice? thanks in advance

I believe the 43$ one supports only DDR3 not the 54$.

On the "ASRock N68C-S UCC" side it says..

* DDR3 memory is only supported by installing AM3 cpu)

What are you going to purchase? Only the motherboard and some RAM's since you said your old motherboard only supports DDR2.

If you are going to build a new PC then give us your budget we can find something good.

Really? It says it has DDR2 RAM and an AM3 CPU. I thought in order to have an AM3 CPU you have to have DDR3 ram

Basically, I'm gonna be buying these things slowly over time. I'll have 50 bucks tomorrow for selling my old 9800 GT, and thats just enough for that MOBO. After a while i will just buy some ram then CPU a bit later. I'll be selling my iTouch and I can get about 100 dollars off of it. So i can get DDR3 4gbs sticks for about 50. That really all i got

I'm getting confused. What are you after? Do you need a new motherboard that supports your current RAM's and CPU? That's it?

Here is the advantage of both what you stated.
ASRock N68C-S UCC (43$) - DDR2 1066 / 800 / 667 / 533 DDR3 1600 / 1333 / 1066 / 800
ASRock A770DE+ (54$) - 2 x PCI Express 2.0 x16 slots (green @ x16 mode, orange @ x4 mode)

So those are the key differences.

I think its better to go with the 43$ one. You can use a DDR3 up to 1600 which is good. The 54$ one has extra PCIE for another video card but its only at x4. You can still use one powerful card instead of two in the future. I get what you are trying to do. You are upgrading slowly which is fine. Go for the 43$ one. So you can get a new processor and RAMs in the future.

You solved your own problem.

I didn't notice that. I just looked at the key features. But remember the 54$ one can only support DDR2 I mean that's what showed in the specs.

right now ill be using a crappy amd dualcore 5200, but ill upgrade it asap to a 140w quadcore. the cpu right now is am2+. So when i get the mobo i can just use it right away and put my ram and CPU and stuff and get it started. But What i dont understand is that it says it supports AM3 CPUs but it doesnt support DDR3. and to USE AM3 you need DDR3... correct?
