The sentence is justifiable. He nearly killed the kid b/c of something with no value and something that wasn't even tangible. IMO he should have life without parole. He doesn't deserve parole. He needs to be in a rubber room locked off from society. Let him fester in his own demented madness.
This!

Not that he doesn't deserve it, just saying... Damn...

Can't wait for faux news to get wind of this and start their next anti-video game spiel... Despite it being obvious that this guy has some severe mental issues unrelated to the game entirely.
He nearly killed the child...

When I was younger I accidentally deleted a saved game from one of my older cousins super mario games.... This reminded me of that.... I feel bad now. I owe that guy... a lot.

The funny thing is I bet soldier boy tried to use his "status" as a "veteran" to his advantage in court. These yahoos think they're special. He should be court-marshalled and executed.

Edit - Also, had that been my wife's kid (my son) that it happened to by some soldier who went off the deep end, I don't think I have to tell you that he would have never made it to court.

I think you two are interpreting it negatively. It's not that he did this because he's a soldier; that's not what it's trying to say at all.
It's saying that he's a soldier, so it should never have happened. Obviously, it should never happen anyway, but as someone trained to react rationally and intelligently in extreme situations, it's emphasised even more. In addition to that, it's the fact that soldiers are combat trained and know how to do more damage than your average person.
Yes, good point, but I'm a soldier myself in the Dutch military, and I know exactly how it feels like to be accused like that. Sure, we're prowd to be a soldier, but they ALWAYS say stuff like that. Always... "A soldier this..." "A soldier that..." They could say: "Young man...". Do you get my point?

Everyone is missing the real culprit here; MS not offering any kind of XBL save-game backup. These things are a few tens of KB a piece, you could probably store every XBL member's save-games on single a 2TB disk, and there would be negligible network load.

On the plus side, this thread reminded me to backup my saves, lest I end up throwing my cat through the drywall when he walks on my controller and deletes everything.

Holy Toledo!
Please tell me you're kidding!!!! How the hell did you come up with that conclusion? The real culprit is the douche bag who flipped out over something diminutive and the degenerate mother who conspired to cover it up! This has nothing to do with games, games saves, being an ex-soldier (likely), or Microsoft! This has EVERYTHING to do with this guy who lost sanity (or never had it) and let loose on a child who is now permanently affected for the rest of his natural born life! Nothing, absolutely nothing whether big or small can justify a beat down nearly to obliteration this kid received.

Holy hell, you are one warped puppy.
