Negative. I refuse to mess with my audio settings in Ubuntu now that it is working fine (in fact my audio is working better in Ubuntu than it is in Windows >.> )

At least until I learn more about Linux and managing it.. I feel like I did when I got my first windows machine.. it's AWESOME.

I reinstalled Ubuntu 10.10, as all the changes and different sound systems just mutilated everything.

Did some tweaking, and installed alsa-mixer and some other stuff, and I got my sound working great.

Any advice on getting X-Fi Crystallizer going in Ubuntu? The sound is great already, just wondering if there is any Ubuntu alternative to Creative's X-Fi Crystallizer.

K, so i'm newbie @ terminal, etc. Mind holding my hand through this? (lol?)

Just need copy paste steps on what to put in terminal, etc. As I have the X-Fi SB0710 model (silver, wide ish). And i'd love to get it working, as it's much better then my toshiba's integrated audio by far. (Plus having a side port instead of a front audio port is a huge plus for how I work... I like wires around, not in front of me..).

So if you dun mind dumbing it down for a noobie, i'd really appreciate it! I'll back it up after it's working (the notes) so I don't have to reask,

*Edit* i'll also probably image my laptop's hdd when I get home prior to doing this, so I have a "virtual" restore point for this laptop.
