Personally I would just get the 2GB card. Right now there is only a 22$ different between the two.

Yes. GPU score is a calculation of the FPS from the GPU tests. CPU speed affects FPS in games as well as 3DMark.

Are you sure you can still unlock 6950s? I thought that was only with the first batch that had sanded down PCI-E power connectors.

so 2% diff from unlock to locked w/ OC'd clocks. I don't feel too bad about my MSI non ref card any more. Nice write up and thread.

yeah, i was just gonna post this.

the only reason ati came out with the 1gb version of the 6950 was because of the gtx 560. of course, they had no idea back when they were creating the 1gb card that the 6950 2gb would beat the 560 by a comfortable margin, and so didn't need to cut costs to make way for the 1 gb version.

I am curious about unlocked 6950(s) and crossfire. I unlocked them and set them to 6970 speeds; they run just fine in single configuration. But if I go Crossfire, while gaming, I will eventually get a Blue Screen. Bringing them back to stock and they run crossfire no problem. Don't know if my PSU is just not up to the task or if it was the luck of the draw. Any thoughts?

Are you using the special 6950 unlock bios or are you flashing it with a 6970 bios? The memory settings are different in a 6970 and aren't compatible with the 6950. If that's not the problem, I don't know what else it could be.
